Overview

MUFFIN 559 is an outdoor lamp designed to be installed on vertical surfaces, such as facades, garden walls, or entrance walls. With 559 mm in height and a dark grey finish, it fits in environments where functional lighting is sought without the luminaire drawing too much attention to itself. The opal diffuser distributes light evenly, without bright spots or harsh shadows. It is an option designed for those who want the exterior of their home to be well lit without complications.

The aluminium body and PMMA diffuser make it resistant to continuous use in outdoor conditions. Compatible with E27 LED bulbs of up to 15W, it is a lamp that is easy to adapt to an existing installation. The working voltage between 100V and 240V means it operates without adjustments on any standard domestic network.

FARO is a Spanish company with experience in luminaires for all types of spaces. Their products combine contemporary design with carefully selected materials to ensure long-lasting durability.

Installation and specifications

To install this lamp on an outdoor surface, an embedded box or connection point already enabled in the wall is required. As it is a surface-mounted wall luminaire, the wiring must be integrated into the wall before proceeding with assembly. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in outdoor environments where electrical safety is a priority. Before connecting, check that the mains voltage matches the range indicated by the manufacturer.

For maintenance of the aluminium body, simply clean with a damp cloth and a neutral detergent. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The PMMA diffuser can be cleaned in the same way; do not use scourers or materials that may scratch the opal surface. Periodically check the condition of the seals and fixing points to ensure the lamp remains firmly attached to the wall.

Design and use

The MUFFIN 559 lamp by FARO has an elongated format — 559 mm in height with a 200x200 mm base — which makes it a discreet yet present piece in the outdoor space. The dark grey finish of the aluminium body integrates well with modern facades, stone walls, or surfaces painted in neutral tones. It is not a lamp that stands out as a decorative element in itself, but rather accompanies the environment and fulfils its function without interfering with the overall composition.

The opal PMMA diffuser spreads light gently outward, without creating direct glare. This characteristic is especially useful in transit areas, such as the entrance to a home, an outdoor corridor, or garden access. Well-distributed lighting at these points helps navigate safely when natural light is scarce, while at the same time giving the space a tidy and well-kept appearance.

The aluminium body provides resistance against the usual outdoor conditions: temperature changes, humidity, and prolonged exposure to the elements. It is a material that maintains its appearance with minimal maintenance, making it suitable for installations that do not require constant attention. The lantern does not include a bulb, allowing the user to choose the E27 LED light source that best suits their colour temperature preferences or lighting level, always within the 15W limit.

This lamp fits well on the facades of single-family homes, perimeter garden walls, or garage access areas. It can also be used in spaces such as an enclosed terrace or a covered patio, where lateral lighting is needed that does not depend on the ceiling. Its contemporary design allows it to be combined with other outdoor elements of clean lines, without clashing with luminaires of different heights or types.

Regarding installation, the wall fixing point is concealed by the base of the lamp, resulting in a clean finish with no visible elements. The weight of 1.67 kg is manageable and does not require special anchoring beyond what is standard for a luminaire of this size. Once installed, the lamp provides stable outdoor lighting without the need for further adjustments.

The MUFFIN 559 lantern is a balanced option for those seeking a functional wall light, with quality materials and a finish that does not age visually in a short time. It is not eye-catching, but it does not go unnoticed in a positive sense: it illuminates what needs to be illuminated and stays in the background in everything else.

Questions and answers

Does the lamp include an E27 LED bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. The luminaire is compatible with E27 LED bulbs of up to 15W, which must be purchased separately according to the user's colour temperature or intensity preferences.

Can the opal PMMA diffuser be scratched during regular cleaning?

PMMA is a resistant material, but it can be scratched if scourers or abrasive products are used. For cleaning, a soft damp cloth with neutral detergent is sufficient, which keeps the opal finish in good condition for a long time.

Can this 559 mm wall light also be installed horizontally on the wall?

The design and fixing system of this wall light are intended for standard vertical surface installation. For any variation in mounting, consult a qualified installer before proceeding.
