Overview

The LILY 650 beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to be installed directly in the ground of a garden or patio. Its main function is to illuminate vegetation from below, creating an effect in which the plants appear to glow on their own. The result is clean lighting, with no visible cables or elements that draw attention away.

What sets this lamp apart is its architectural structure: at night, the black body almost disappears and what remains is the light. There is no eye-catching lantern or decorative piece competing with the surroundings. The beacon simply does its job without imposing itself.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Its products combine careful design with durable materials, built to withstand real use in demanding conditions.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This beacon is fixed directly to the ground and requires an electrical installation at 24 V DC. It is essential to have a suitable transformer for this voltage before proceeding with assembly. Installation by a qualified electrician is recommended, as the wiring must be protected and correctly buried. Since the lamp has an IP65 protection rating, it can be installed in areas exposed to rain and humidity, but joints and connections must be made with equally protected materials. It is advisable to plan the location before final installation, taking into account the direction of the light and the distance to the plants to be illuminated.

Use and care. The black stainless steel body is resistant to corrosion, but may accumulate dust or soil residue over time. To clean it, simply use a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish should not be used. The transparent glass diffuser is cleaned in the same way. It is recommended to periodically check the condition of the connections and verify that there is no water accumulation at the junction points. Do not modify the electrical installation without first disconnecting the power supply.

Design and use

The LILY 650 beacon is built in stainless steel with a black finish. This material not only ensures resistance to moisture and temperature changes, but also provides a discreet presence in the garden. It is not a lantern with decorative details or a vintage piece with elaborate shapes: it is a clean, geometric structure that fits into modern, minimalist or architecturally defined environments.

The transparent glass diffuser allows light to emerge directly, without filters that alter the tone. The COB LED source at 2700 K emits warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent lamp. This warmth enhances the perception of the natural colors of plants, leaves and soil, without making the outdoor space look like a work area or industrial lighting zone.

At 650 mm in height, the lamp reaches a position that allows light to be directed toward medium-sized shrubs, flower beds or the base of small trees. It does not illuminate from the ground at such a low angle that it becomes ineffective, nor from a height that casts unwanted shadows. It is a measurement designed so that the lighting integrates into the vegetation in a natural way.

The IP65 protection means the beacon is prepared to withstand rain and continuous exposure to adverse weather conditions. It can be installed in uncovered areas, open gardens, outdoor terraces or near a swimming pool, as long as the electrical connections are properly protected. It does not need to be removed in winter or receive additional protection for the lamp unit itself.

The lighting system operates at 24 V DC, making it a safer option compared to higher-voltage installations in open-air spaces. To integrate it into a garden, it is common to combine several beacons distributed along a path or around a planted area. The result is continuous, enveloping lighting, with no isolated points of light or dark areas between the plants.

This lamp can coexist with other outdoor elements: stone paths, natural stone walls, trimmed hedges or wooden pavements. It does not impose a specific style, but adapts to the existing space. It is also aesthetically compatible with recessed floor lights or garden spotlights, if more complex lighting with different light planes is desired.

For those renovating their garden or installing outdoor lighting for the first time, the LILY 650 is an option that requires few design decisions: place it, connect it, and the effect appears on its own when night falls.

Questions and answers

Is a special transformer required to install this beacon, given that it operates at 24 V DC?

Yes. The LILY 650 lamp operates exclusively at 24 V DC, and therefore requires an external transformer to convert the mains voltage to that level. The transformer is not included and must be purchased separately. It is recommended to consult an electrician to choose the appropriate model based on the number of beacons to be installed on the same circuit.

What level of protection does IP65 offer against rain and outdoor use?

The IP65 protection guarantees that the lamp is resistant to dust ingress and direct water jets. This means it can be used outdoors exposed to rain without the unit suffering damage. However, the electrical connections and joints must be equally protected with materials certified for outdoor use.

Is the included COB LED light source replaceable if it stops working?

The lamp includes the COB LED light source as supplied from the factory. For any queries regarding replacement or repair, it is recommended to contact customer service, as this type of integrated source requires technical assessment before any intervention is carried out.
