Overview

The FARO DAS beacon is an outdoor lamp designed for ground-level lighting. It is installed directly in the garden and marks paths, terrace edges or planted areas with warm, even light. Its compact height of 30 cm makes it discreet during the day and visually effective at nightfall.

This lamp is part of the DAS series, which also includes a wall light. This allows a coherent set to be created outdoors: the beacon on the ground and the wall light on the façade, with the same finish and the same colour temperature. The result is outdoor lighting with a neat and well-considered appearance.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in luminaires for residential and architectural use. Its outdoor products are designed for real conditions of use, with materials that withstand continuous exposure to the elements.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This beacon is fixed directly to the ground. Before installing it, plan the underground cable routing if this has not yet been done. The anchor point must be on a stable, level surface free of accumulated moisture. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician. The working voltage is 100V-240V, compatible with the standard electrical grid. The lamp comes with the light source included, so there is no need to purchase the LED separately.

Use and maintenance. To clean the aluminium body, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The transparent glass diffuser can be cleaned with a dry or damp cloth without aggressive chemical products. Periodically check that the base is properly secured and that there is no accumulation of soil or dirt around the anchor point. Disconnect the power before any cleaning or inspection operation.

Design and use

The DAS beacon has a body made of die-cast aluminium, a material that combines structural strength with low weight. The dark grey finish gives it a sober appearance that does not draw too much attention during the day, but works well as a decorative element once night falls and the lamp is on. It is not a rechargeable lantern, nor does it include a motion sensor or solar cell: it operates connected to the electrical grid, which ensures stable and continuous lighting without depending on external conditions.

The diffuser is made of transparent glass, which allows light to emerge without colour filters or distortions. The source is an 8W COB LED with a colour temperature of 3000K, a warm tone that is not harsh on the eyes and integrates well with natural settings such as gardens, gravel paths or landscaped areas with vegetation. At 480 lumens, this beacon is not intended to be a powerful lamp for illuminating large surfaces, but rather an ambient and directional light.

As for its dimensions, the 300 mm height places it close to the ground, making it ideal for tracing visual lines along a path or for highlighting a kerb, a planter or the perimeter of a patio area. Its depth of 54 mm and length of 160 mm are compact, so it takes up no space and does not interfere with passage. A beacon of these proportions can be placed even in tight spaces without looking out of place.

The DAS series is designed as a set. Combining this ground beacon with the wall light from the same range allows an exterior with visual continuity to be created. If the garden also has a terrace with a wall, the wall light can be installed at mid-height while the beacon illuminates the access from the ground. This type of layered lighting gives depth to the outdoor space without the need to install large lights or powerful spotlights. No sensor or independent lantern is required: everything is integrated into a single design solution.

This type of lamp adapts well to contemporary-style gardens, where lines are clean and materials are neutral. The dark grey aluminium pairs with natural stone, concrete or wood paving. It also fits in more classic outdoor settings if the rest of the elements follow a palette of dark or neutral colours. In terms of accompanying lights, this beacon can work alongside similar beacons distributed along a path, creating a regular visual rhythm between points of light.

The weight of 1.42 kg indicates solid construction for its size. It is not a lightweight plastic rechargeable beacon, but an aluminium piece with real presence. This is noticeable in how it looks once installed: without moving, without tilting over time, without losing its original position.

Questions and answers

Does the beacon include the LED light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 8W COB LED light source is included. It is not necessary to purchase it separately or to look for compatibility with other modules.

Does this beacon work with any standard domestic electrical installation?

Yes. It operates with a voltage range of 100V to 240V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid in Spain and in most countries.

Is it possible to combine this beacon with other products from the same DAS series?

Yes. The DAS series also includes a wall light with the same finish and colour temperature. Combining both pieces in the same outdoor space gives a visually coherent result.
