Overview
Overview
The BROT 200 beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to be installed directly in the ground. Its main function is to mark routes, trails and paths in open-air spaces, providing soft and continuous lighting that guides without glaring. It is also useful for illuminating vegetation, shrubs or specific areas of the garden thanks to its adjustable head.
The design of this lamp is minimalist and clean. It takes up no visual space, but instead integrates with the surroundings. The BROT collection was created by Yembara Studio for FARO, a brand with a long history in lighting that combines technical criteria with attention to aesthetic detail.
Installation and specifications
Preparation and installation. This beacon is fixed directly in the ground, so before installing it, it is advisable to plan the cable routing in advance. As this is an outdoor luminaire, the wiring must be protected and comply with current electrical regulations. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially when integrated into circuits with multiple units. Check that the installation point is level so that the lamp sits straight and its orientation is as intended.
Use and maintenance. To clean the aluminium body, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the black finish. The opal glass diffuser can be cleaned with a soft cloth without applying excessive pressure. Periodically check the electrical connections and the condition of the body if the beacon is exposed to demanding weather conditions.

Design and use
The BROT 200 beacon has a compact and geometric shape that fits well in both contemporary gardens and spaces with a more understated character. Its black aluminium body gives it a discreet presence during the day, and at night the lamp comes into its own thanks to the warm light emitted by the opal glass diffuser.
With a colour temperature of 2700K, the lighting it produces is warm and pleasant. This type of light is the most suitable for residential outdoor use: it is neither cold nor clinical, but instead creates a relaxed atmosphere that invites you to linger in the space. The 7W output is sufficient to mark routes and highlight garden features without generating excessive lighting that would break the nocturnal ambience.
The opal diffuser distributes light evenly, avoiding points of direct glare. This is especially relevant when several beacons are placed in a row to trace a path: the visual continuity is clean and balanced, with no jumps in intensity from one lamp to the next.
One of the most practical features of the BROT 200 is the ability to adjust the direction of the light. This allows it to be aimed at plants, shrubs or other elements of the vegetation, turning the beacon into a decorative as well as functional lighting tool. In a well-designed garden, the combination of path beacons with spotlights directed at the vegetation creates layers of light that add depth to the outdoor space.
Aluminium as the body material is a solid choice for outdoor use. It is lightweight, durable and retains its finish well over time. The beacon weighs just 0.5 kg, making it easy to transport and handle during installation. Its compact size — 200 mm in height — means it is not visually intrusive even when several units are installed along the same route.
SMD LED technology ensures efficient consumption and a long service life. It does not require frequent replacement of the light source, reducing long-term maintenance. The universal voltage of 100V to 240V allows it to be used in different electrical configurations without additional adapters.
This beacon fits well in private gardens, home entrances, patios, pedestrian access ways and transit areas on ground-level terraces. It can also be combined with other lamps from the BROT collection to create a coherent lighting scheme throughout the entire outdoor space.
There are environments in which a lamp of these characteristics has a particularly clear role. In long driveways with vegetation on either side, a row of beacons placed at regular intervals transforms a functional path into a route with its own character. The lights do not compete with each other or saturate the space: they simply define it, allowing the darkness of the surroundings to form part of the result. That balance between what is illuminated and what remains in shadow is what gives depth to a well-resolved garden.
Unlike other outdoor solutions that rely on rechargeable batteries or solar panels, this beacon operates with a fixed electrical connection, ensuring constant and uninterrupted illumination. There is no need to think about charging cycles or variable performance depending on the number of hours of sunlight the previous day. Rechargeable and solar options have their place in temporary or hard-to-access installations, but when long-term reliability is sought in a regularly used space, a direct mains connection is the most solid option.
It also does not incorporate a motion sensor or presence detection system. This is a design choice, not a shortcoming. A motion sensor makes sense in areas of occasional passage where the light needs to activate reactively; in a garden designed to be enjoyed, lights that switch on and off according to movement break the continuity of the atmosphere. The BROT 200 is designed to remain on throughout the night if so desired, creating a stable and recognisable ambience from any point in the outdoor space.
In terms of aesthetic integration, the lamp works well alongside materials such as natural stone, polished concrete, treated wood or corten steel. The black body does not impose a specific style, but adapts according to the context. In a garden with organic lines, it blends in among the vegetation. In a more geometric design approach, it reinforces the visual direction of the whole. As a ground-level lantern, its silhouette is neutral enough not to conflict with other decorative elements in the surroundings.
Compared to a post lantern or a wall light, this beacon occupies a different position within the lighting scheme: it works at ground level, from below, and its effect is more intimate and directional. This makes it especially useful as a complement to other powerful outdoor lights that illuminate broad areas. While a powerful source resolves the general visibility of the space, the BROT 200 adds detail and guidance at the points where the route requires it.
The final result, when well integrated into the project, is an outdoor space that looks well cared for without any apparent effort. The lights mark the path, highlight the vegetation, define the boundaries of the space and create a sense of order that is perceived even before entering the garden.

Questions and answers
Does the BROT 200 beacon allow the light to be directed in different directions?
Yes. One of the distinctive features of this beacon is precisely its adjustable head, which allows the light to be directed towards vegetation, plants or specific points in the surroundings rather than projecting it only downwards.
Is the LED light source included in the beacon or does it need to be purchased separately?
The SMD LED light source is included in the beacon. No additional components need to be purchased to put the lamp into operation once installed.
Does the black aluminium body retain its finish well over time outdoors?
Aluminium is a material commonly used in outdoor luminaires for its durability and stability. The black finish of this beacon is applied to a robust and lightweight body that withstands prolonged exposure to outdoor conditions well.
