Overview

The RUSH 800 beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to be installed directly in the ground. Its height of 800 mm makes it a suitable option for illuminating pathways, gardens, or parks where a route needs to be marked without resorting to an elevated light source. The lamp directs light to the sides, creating a pleasant atmosphere with a color temperature of 3000K, which is warm and visually restful.

The body is made of aluminum and polycarbonate, materials that combine durability with a contained weight. The IP65 protection ensures that the lamp operates without issues in rain and outdoor dirt. The IK10 rating indicates it withstands mechanical impacts, which is useful in high-traffic areas or installations where there may be nearby physical activity.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Its catalog covers both indoor and outdoor solutions, with special attention to technical design and product durability.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the lamp, check that the electrical connection point in the ground is prepared and protected for outdoor use. As this is a ground-mounted luminaire, it is necessary to plan for a suitable anchor or base depending on the type of surface. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if it involves work with buried wiring or underground connections. Verify that the installation voltage is compatible with the 100V–240V range indicated in the specifications.

To clean the lamp, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the aluminum finish or the PC diffuser. Although the beacon has IP65 protection, do not subject the connection points to direct water jets. Periodically check the condition of the wiring and sealing gaskets to maintain the overall protection.

Design and use

The RUSH 800 is part of a technical collection designed for outdoor use. It is not a decorative lantern-style lamp with elaborate ornamentation, but a functional luminaire whose sober design makes it compatible with very different environments: private gardens, building entrances, public parks, or passageways in collective-use installations.

The dark gray aluminum body has a restrained appearance that does not draw too much attention during the day. It is the type of lamp that goes unnoticed in the space until nightfall, at which point it fulfills its function without being visually aggressive. The transparent polycarbonate diffuser allows the LED light to exit directly, without excessive filtering, which maintains good luminous efficacy in the area close to the beacon.

The 180-degree asymmetric lighting option is a useful feature when you want to project light in a specific direction. This is practical on paths alongside walls, garden edges, or any situation where illuminating in all directions does not make sense. Instead of dispersing light in a circular manner, it concentrates it where needed, which improves the use of the installed light point.

At 3000K, the color temperature falls within what is considered warm-neutral light. It is not the yellowish light of a candle, but neither is it the coldness of daylight. It is a tone that favors pleasant outdoor atmospheres, especially in gardens or terraces where a welcoming feeling is desired at night. This type of light also works well for lighting in pedestrian areas without creating uncomfortable glare.

The integrated COB LED offers a compact light source with no moving parts. The lamp does not require frequent replacements or bulb management, which reduces long-term maintenance. The 20W power is sufficient for the intended use without implying high consumption.

In terms of durability, IK10 is the maximum level on the mechanical impact protection scale. Together with IP65, this makes the beacon suitable for areas where conditions are not always controlled: rain, wind, proximity to play areas, or frequently used pathways. The polycarbonate diffuser also contributes to that resistance, as it is a tougher material against impacts than glass.

This lamp integrates well in installations where several units are combined to mark a route. In a medium-sized garden, for example, several beacons arranged along a path create a nocturnal visual guide without the need for floodlights or elevated lights. The dark gray finish of the body harmonizes with stone, gravel, or concrete paving, materials commonly used in contemporary outdoor spaces.

Questions and answers

Does the RUSH 800 beacon include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The lamp includes the 20W COB LED light source. No additional components need to be purchased for the luminaire to operate.

What does the 180-degree option mean on this outdoor lamp?

The 180-degree asymmetric distribution allows light to be projected in a single direction instead of dispersing in a circular manner. It is useful when the beacon is installed next to a wall, hedge, or garden edge and you want to concentrate the illumination toward one specific side.

Is the IP65 protection level sufficient for climates with frequent rainfall?

IP65 indicates complete protection against dust and against water jets from any direction. It is suitable for outdoor installations subject to regular rainfall, although it is recommended not to direct pressure jets directly onto the electrical connection points.
