Overview

The KILA beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to illuminate gardens, terraces and patios with a discreet and well-balanced result. Its height of 40 cm makes it a practical option for marking paths, bordering green areas or defining the limits of a terrace without taking up too much visual space.

The dark grey aluminium body and amber glass diffuser create a combination that works well both day and night. During the day, the lamp blends in without drawing attention. When switched on, the semi-transparent glass reveals the bulb and projects warm light that gives character to the outdoor space.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Its products combine durable materials with careful design, conceived for domestic environments where detail matters.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This beacon is fixed directly to the ground, so underground wiring must be planned before installation. It is recommended to hire an electrician to make the connection, especially for outdoor installations. Check that the installation point is away from areas where water may accumulate. The lamp does not include a bulb, so you will need to purchase a compatible E27 LED type with a maximum power of 15 W before start-up.

Use and maintenance. Clean the aluminium body with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the finish. The glass diffuser can be cleaned in the same way. Always disconnect the power before carrying out any maintenance task. Do not exceed the maximum power indicated for the light source.

Design and use

The KILA collection by FARO was born with a clear idea: that an outdoor lamp could have a presence of its own without needing striking shapes. The result is a beacon with clean lines, a dark grey finished aluminium body and an amber glass diffuser that introduces a touch of warmth in open environments.

Aluminium is a material that performs well outdoors. It does not rust easily, withstands temperature changes and maintains its appearance for years with minimal maintenance. In this lamp, the dark grey finish reinforces that sense of solidity without appearing visually heavy. The structure stands 400 mm tall with a 120 x 120 mm base, proportions that allow it to be placed in tight spaces without looking out of place.

The amber glass diffuser is the element that most defines the character of this luminaire. Unlike opaque diffusers, this one allows light to pass through in a way that makes the bulb visible inside. When night falls, that detail turns each lantern into a small point of warm light that enlivens the garden without needing high power levels. The amber tone softens the white light of the LED and creates an atmosphere that invites you to stay outside a little longer.

This beacon works well in contemporary-style gardens, where the dark grey aluminium connects with other elements such as stone, concrete or dark wood. It also fits in simpler terraces, where a lamp of this type can be the only decorative element needed to transform the space at night. Placed next to a pool, it provides enough light to move around comfortably while creating a much more pleasant atmosphere than a conventional spotlight.

Floor fixing allows the layout to be planned with considerable freedom. Several beacons can be placed in a line to mark an access path, or distributed at strategic points to illuminate specific areas of the garden. As they are low-power lights, the total consumption remains under control even with several units installed.

The use of an E27 LED light source ensures efficiency and durability. This type of bulb is available in different colour temperatures, which allows some flexibility to adjust the final result according to the surroundings. In combination with the amber glass, a neutral or warm-toned bulb produces very well-balanced results.

The KILA lantern does not include a motion sensor, solar system or rechargeable function, making it especially reliable for decorative uses where constant and controlled light is preferred. It does not automatically dim or react to movement in the surroundings, something that is appreciated in many gardens. The absence of these functions is not a limitation but a design choice that prioritises simplicity and stability.

If you are looking for outdoor lights that do not draw too much attention but do their job well when it gets dark, this beacon is a solid option. Its presence is discreet during the day and sufficient at night. It requires no frequent maintenance or special configuration. Just light, where you want it.

Questions and answers

Is this beacon suitable for installation in areas where it rains frequently, given that its body is made of aluminium?

Aluminium is a corrosion-resistant material suitable for outdoor use. Even so, to ensure a safe installation in areas with frequent rainfall, it is important that the wiring is properly protected and that the connection is made by a qualified electrician.

Does the amber glass diffuser noticeably affect the amount of light emitted by the lamp?

The amber glass is semi-transparent, which means it allows light to pass through but with a warm filter. The perceived brightness will depend on the E27 LED bulb you choose, within the 15 W limit. The amber effect slightly reduces visual intensity but provides a warmth that is very pleasant outdoors.

Is it possible to install several KILA beacons connected to the same electrical circuit?

Yes, as long as the circuit is correctly sized for the total load. As this is a lamp with a maximum power of 15 W and a universal voltage of 100V–240V, the consumption per unit is low. Consult an electrician to calculate how many units your installation can support.
